About Sean

Who is Sean McEochaidh

Sean McEochaidh is an autistic Irish writer whose work confronts memory, survival, and the weight of silence. Born in Dublin, he entered St. Nicholas of Myra primary school in Kinsealy in 1980, where the red door of the classroom became the threshold to years of cruelty at the hands of teachers and a principal who should have been guardians. What he carried out of that place were not lessons in reading or sums but scars — physical, emotional, and invisible — that would shape the course of his life.

Autism gave Sean sharp, unrelenting memory. It preserved images, sounds, and words in ways that could not be shaken off or conveniently forgotten. Where others might have looked away, he remembered. Where institutions tried to bury, he unearthed. His childhood became not only a series of painful recollections but the foundation for a vow: that the unseen children of his generation would remain unseen no longer.
Scarred but unbroken, Sean has turned testimony into fire. His work is both memoir and reckoning, demanding that the Irish State and Church face the consequences of their silence, and that society at large stop excusing cruelty in the name of discipline. Unseen Children: In the Shadows of Silence is his first major work of testimony, written not for pity, but as record and proof.

Sean continues to write about survival, justice, and the autistic experience, blending lived reality with myth and metaphor in his broader body of work. His words burn with the refusal to forget and with the stubborn belief that truth, once spoken, can no longer be silenced.
He lives and writes in Ireland.
